[2020 Update] 11 Best Men’s Jackets Under $100

by | Jan 2, 2020

These 2020 men’s jackets are DA BOMB.

(That means, “the bomb” for those who still churn their own butter.)

Be sure to read the “weird review” section, too.

They’re hilarious.

Best Heavy Duty Men’s Jackets of 2020

1. Columbia Frost Fighter Insulated Puffer Jacket

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Favorite Review: “My husband LOVES this coat! Even in -5 windchill.”

Weirdest Review: “The small was too big on my teen son!”

Our take:

The small was too big for your teen son, eh?

Well that sounds like a personal problem to me, ma’am.

A 4.5 rating with almost 500+ reviews is nothing to scoff at.

And you won’t find a better name brand jacket at this price.

2. Camel Crown Mountain Snow Waterproof  Ski Jacket

Rating: 4.4 out of 5

Favorite Review: “I have been using this product for some time and can honestly say, GREAT job!”

Weirdest Review: Question: “Can you play golf in this jacket?” Answer: “Little thick for golf, but it’s possible.”

Our take:

Why the hell would you want to play golf in a ski jacket?!

Where are you playing, a par 3 course in Siberia?!

Anyway, the inside of this jacket features incredibly plush fabric that’ll keep you warm and cozy at just about any temperature.

And it’s under 100 bucks.

3. Columbia Alpine Action Winter Jacket

Rating: 4.3 out of 5

Favorite Review: “Lightweight, non restrictive, plenty warm. Everything I want in a cold weather jacket.”

Weirdest Review: “I own a cattle farm in the Midwest and am outside most of the day every day.”

Our take:

Has a more American sentence ever been written?

If this jacket is good enough for a cattle farmer in Kansas, it’s good enough for you.

4. Marmot Tullus Hoody Men’s Winter Puffer Jacket (Fill Power 600)

Rating: 4.1 out of 5

Favorite Review: “This jacket is incredible! Keeps me super warm when skiing at Breckenridge.”

Weirdest Review:  “I bought this for my son. He loves it. He does not want to feel like the Michelin Man, but he likes an understated puff design.”

Our take:

I wonder if the creators of the Michelin Man knew that he’d forever be compared to exceptionally warm jackets?

Probably not.

Anyway, Marmot is a truly solid brand, and these jackets are ridiculously warm.

5. Volcom Hernan Heavy Weight Hooded Jacket

Rating: 4.9 out of 5

Favorite Review: “Honestly, a really nice, warm jacket. Not too bulky, and fits well.”

Weirdest Review: “My boyfriend wears it to work every day. I went on a job with him and got to wear it.”

Our take:

You went on a “job” with your boyfriend?

Whoa, let’s keep this PG-13, people!

When I was growing up, I was under the impression that Volcom was a skater brand.

Guess things have changed because this jacket looks SEXY.

And warm.

6. Caterpillar Heavy Insulated Parka

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Favorite Review: “The quality of the jacket seems to be exceptional, both in material and in workmanship. I would easily rate the construction with 5 stars.”

Weirdest Review: “I’M NOT ANYONE’S fan boy, but I can’t say enough good about the two coats I bought for my boys!”

Our take:

Don’t call this guy anyone’s fan boy…

He’ll slap you clear across the face.

This jacket won’t win any awards for style, but it is outrageously durable.

7. DRI Duck 5020 Cheyenne Hooded Work Jacket

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Favorite Review: “A very well made jacket. Comfortable, warm and durable. A good zipper and the hood fits nicely.”

Weirdest Review: “A perfect fit for my high-school boy. Like most kids, he’s not big in the shoulders yet, and he’s skinny.”

Our take:

Here’s to hoping your son’s shoulders fill out one day, sir.

In the meantime, we can all enjoy this rugged work jacket that comes in 8 virtually identical shades of brown.

8. Legendary Whitetails Treeline Hooded Jacket

Rating: 4.3 out of 5

Favorite Review: “Like wearing a hug… in a manly way.”

Weirdest Review: “I’m always skeptical about buying clothes online.”

Our take:

What is this, 1997?

Buying clothes online couldn’t be simpler, dude.

If it doesn’t fit, just return it!

The Treeline Hooded Jacket has a unique, retro look that we really dig.

9. Wantdo Hooded Waterproof Fleece Ski Jacket

Rating: 4.4 out of 5

Favorite Review: “Such a great jacket for the price… fits well, has a ton of features, and is warm and waterproof.”

Weirdest Review:  “Coat smelled a little odd if you put your face in it, but you couldn’t notice it at a normal distance.”

Our take:

That’s the first thing I do when I buy a new coat…

Shove that thing straight up my nostrils and take a big whiff!

Potential odd smell aside, this is a super sleek jacket at a down to Earth price.

10. Andorra Men’s Performance Insulated Ski Jacket

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Favorite Review: “You won’t find a better quality jacket with all these features for under $100.”

Weirdest Review: “My guy is very large, huge muscles, and this fits him as excepted with room for a sweatshirt underneath.”

Our take:

Oh good heavens!

Huge muscles, eh?

I’ll arm wrestle his a** any day of the week, honey!

Andorra is a top brand that a lot of people haven’t heard of, and this is their flagship jacket.

11. Spyder Pelmo Down Jacket

Rating: 4.4 out of 5

Favorite Review: “Fits as expected, light weight and really warm. You don’t really to wear much beneath it to keep yourself warm. I love it.”

Weirdest Review: “Had to return because I ate too much over the holidays, and it wouldn’t fit my waist area when I try to zip it up. Not the product’s fault that I need to hit the gym, hence the 5-star review still.”

Our take:

Dad bods, be warned!

Spyder jackets aren’t too friendly to the ole’ beer gut… but it’s definitely a sweet lookin’ jacket.

Bonus: Best Weird Review

12. Amazon Essentials Men’s Lightweight Water-Resistant Puffer Jacket

Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Favorite Review: “It’s lightweight, seems well constructed and is reliable. I’ve worn it in temperatures as low as 13 degrees fahrenheit and it kept me warm.”

Weirdest Review: Definitely this guy doing a full on photo shoot to show off the jacket:

Our take:

So what’d you do today, Gary?

“Well I walked the dog, grabbed some lunch, and posted 9 different poses on an Amazon Review!”
